ICBA gets Gold Impact Seal for sustainable impact in UAE

The International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) has been recognized for its strong track record in sustainability and social impact in the UAE, receiving the Impact Seal “Gold Tier” from Majra, the National CSR Fund, at the World With Purpose Summit 2023.
  • Held at ICBA’s headquarters in Dubai on 6-9 November 2023, the CPD-certified training program focused on a range of nature-based technologies and approaches for managing and restoring degraded soils and mitigating and adapting to climate change effects on agriculture. It was based on more than two decades of ICBA’s research and development work in sustainable natural resources management and land rehabilitation in different parts of the world.
    Held at ICBA’s headquarters in Dubai on 6-9 November 2023, the CPD-certified training program focused on a range of nature-based technologies and approaches for managing and restoring degraded soils and mitigating and adapting to climate change effects on agriculture.   • In particular, the course offered insights into global and local impacts of climate change, the significance of crop biodiversity, integrated cropping systems, and sustainable land and water resources management. It covered a variety of topics, including the use of salt-tolerant food and feed crops and agroforestry systems for soil rehabilitation, salinity mitigation, and freshwater conservation.

ICBA supports G20 Global Land Initiative in developing national capacities for land restoration

The International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) have joined forces with the G20 Global Land Initiative of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) to develop national capacities for land restoration.
  • The agreement will help create a dedicated learning space for farmers, agricultural engineers, extension officers, and other specialists in agriculture and related fields. A memorandum of understanding to this effect was signed at the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment of the UAE, in the presence of H.E. Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment, by Dr. Tarifa Alzaabi, Director General of ICBA, and H.E. Hassan Abdullah Al Rostamani, Vice-Chairman of the Al Rostama

The International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) and Al Rostamani Group have partnered to develop and upgrade training and research facilities at ICBA’s headquarters to provide tailored capacity development programs to a wide range of stakeholders locally and globally.
