Dr. Celso Moretti is a results-driven and globally minded leader with over 30 years of experience in the area of agribusiness.
He has robust experience as executive, board member, and researcher. He has led high performance teams as CEO, executive director of R&D, head of R&D department, and director general of a research center. As President of Embrapa (2019-2023), he established robust cooperation with the private sector.
He also has extensive international experience. He is a member of the Global Panel on Agriculture and Food Systems for Nutrition, London, the UK, and a board member of the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture, the UAE, among others. He is also an invited member of the innovation pillar for COP28, Dubai, the UAE.
In 2021 Dr. Celso Moretti received the Norman Borlaug Award in the category “Sustainability”. He has visited more than 40 countries in the Americas, Africa, Asia, Europe, and Oceania as keynote speaker, consultant, and counterpart of R&D projects.
He is an alumnus (the class of 2016) of the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, and Courtesy Professor with the University of Florida, Gainesville, the USA.
Dr. Celso Moretti holds an MBA in marketing, as well as an MSc and a PhD in plant sciences.
