The ideal candidate will have a background including studies of plant reactions to physical and biological stressors.
The Plant Physiologist will work closely with ICBA breeders, geneticists, and soil/water experts to conduct research on testing crops (varieties) and determining yield and resistance to abiotic stresses. His/her tasks will also include designing and carrying out variety testing experiments and developing projects to identify varieties with increased yield and quality for salt-tolerant crops produced in marginal environments.
- Identify salt-tolerant varieties that have increased yield and improved quality through variety testing;
- Identify the best salt-tolerant crop species for new product lines;
- Improve yield stability and nutritional qualities, and support research on new high-yielding salt-tolerant varieties, and novel growing methods;
- Design and manage ongoing experiments, analyze data, present results, and support decisions on yield and quality testing;
- Develop and run crop models for crops under marginal conditions;
- Develop, fundraise for and execute projects related to soil management in line with ICBA’s mandate;
