Our Strategic Framework

ICBA’s 10-year framework outlines an integrated systems-based approach to addressing the pressing challenges of salinity and sustainability in harsh environments. This framework aligns with ICBA’s mission to enhance agricultural productivity and resilience through innovative, science-driven solutions.

The priorities are classified into two approaches:

Approach 1 – Science-Based Innovation

  • Priority 1: To prevent and manage salinity in water and irrigation systems.
  • Priority 2: To manage and recover saline soils for agricultural production.
  • Priority 3: To lead crop improvement research into tolerance to salinity and other stresses.
  • Priority 4: To introduce resource-efficient, climate-proof, resilient and profitable biosaline agriculture systems.

Approach 2 – Advancement-Based Collaboration

  • Priority 1: To strengthen research, extension and policymaking capabilities.
  • Priority 2: To adapt and deploy cost-effective, accessible innovations.
  • Priority 3: To inform cross-boundary social-economic-agricultural decision-making.
  • Priority 4: To empower local communities through capacity development and knowledge transfer.
