The Dubai-based International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA), the National Drought Mitigation Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the Robert B. Daugherty Water for Food Global Institute at the University of Nebraska are co-leading a $4-million research effort. The project is designed to help the Middle East and North Africa region balance water consumption and increase agricultural productivity, with a focus on drought management.

A delegation led by UAE Minister of Energy H.E. Suhail Mohamed Faraj Al Mazrouei visited today the Dubai-based International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) to learn about the Center and its work on, among other things, water-efficient technologies and crops, non-conventional water resources, and biofuel crops such as Salicornia. This visit is one of a series of visits by the Minister of Energy to local organizations working on energy issues to enhance communication and improve cooperation between the Ministry of Energy and its strategic partners, as well as discuss mutual cooperation opportunities for diversifying energy resources for sustainable development.

Celebrating this year’s theme of gender parity for the International Women’s Day, the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) and CRDF Global announced today the launch of a joint research grant competition for early-career Arab women scientists collaborating with US researchers in agricultural science. The aim of this competition is to facilitate long -term international research partnerships.
