Climate Modeling Scientist

Job Summary
Undertake many different forms of modeling and analysis of climate change with a particular focus on developing insight on the impacts on water resources and use and agricultural production.
Job Responsibilities

Downscale and analyze to regional and country level using WRF, general circulation model climate change data

  • Analyze statistically extreme events, particularly droughts and their causes and impacts on water resources and agricultural production
  • Develop high resolution atmospheric parameter data for inputs to water and crop modeling
  • Analyze historical and develop future atmospheric data to support drought monitoring and early warning systems
  • Prepare and deliver workshop material in any related area include on  a) climate change modelling b) droughts and early warning system
  • Prepare project proposals and secure funds from external funding agencies.
  • Prepare research papers to submit to peer-reviewed journals
  • Prepare and deliver conference papers
  • Additional activities to support ICBA’s mission in climate change and modeling adaptation work
Qualifications and Experience
  • Master degree in related field
  • At least 5 years’ working knowledge in climate change analysis, meteorology, climatology
  • International work experience
  • Fluency in written and spoken English

Other Skills and Competencies

  • Working knowledge of statistics and database management
  • Additional language skills, Arabic is desirable
  • Supervisory experience
