Dr. Shabbir Ahmad Shahid is a senior fellow at ICBA. He joined the center as a salinity management scientist. Prior to that, he had served in different capacities in a number of organizations, including Associate Professor at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad, Pakistan, Associate Research Scientist at the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, Manager of Soil Resources Department at the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi.
Overall, he has extensive experience in applied agricultural research in many countries and regions, including Pakistan, UK, Australia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Niger, Morocco and Spain.
He holds a Ph.D. in soil micromorphology of salt-affected soils from Bangor University, UK. He is author and co-author of numerous research publications, including edited books, books, manuals, journal articles, book chapters and conference proceedings. He is a member of several scientific committees, international advisory boards of international conferences, and editorial boards of scientific journals. He is a recipient of Sir William Roberts and David A. Jenkins awards.
