Develop and apply advanced modeling techniques for water balance, irrigation, hydrology, seasonal forecast and climate change studies of the MENA region
Job Responsibilities
Develop and validate evapo-transpiration modeling (at regional scale and field scale) using source-energy approach (SEBAL, ALEXI, SSEB, etc...)
Assessment of water budget analysis and crop production from remote sensing data
Analyze extreme events, particularly droughts and their causes impacts particular on water resources and agricultural production
Support the development of drought monitoring and early warning systems through modeling of key variables of the water cycle
Use downscaled climate change scenarios in water modeling to understand the impacts of future conditions
Prepare research papers to submit to peer-reviewed journals
Prepare and deliver conference papers
Additional activities to support ICBA’s mission in climate change and modeling adaptation work
Qualifications and Experience
Essentials
PhD degree in related field
Fluency in written and spoken English
Other Skills and Competencies
Working knowledge of statistics and database management
Good knowledge in programming (Python, GIS, GRASS, IDL ..)
Good background on modeling and use of remote sensing data
