The Water Program at the International Centre for Biosaline Agriculture Dubai is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic applicant for a postdoctoral position in the area of Treated Wastewater.

Duties will include:

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

• Synthesis of existing data and draft manuscripts for publication in refereed journals, and technical reports.
• Conduct research on treated wastewater use in crops, forages, and fruit trees.
• Contribute to the design of experiments; undertake monitoring, sampling, and lab work.

Job Requirements:

• PhD in Environmental/Agricultural Engineering/Agronomy with specialization in the use of treated wastewater or related fields.
• Experience in conducting research preferably on treated wastewater
• Experience in managing and analyzing scientific data. Knowledge of statistical packages is required.
• Proven record in relevant scientific publications.
• High level of organization, ability to manage multiple tasks, and team work.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

Update ICBA’s Human Resources policies and procedures on regular basis.

Assist Management in evaluation of staff for promotion plans.

Follow up on annual staff Performance and Evaluation and merit increases.

Job advertisement and recruitment process including recommendations for placement of employees as per ICBA’s policy and procedures.

Prepare contracts for new staff and recommend grade and salary in consultation with Management.

Manage all logistics for new staff and handle all personal matters in coordination with relevant units at ICBA.

Identify training needs for ICBA staff and provide training opportunities.

Assist with market studies of staff compensation

Keep records and files of employees with updated information.

Provide other human resources services as required by Management.

Qualifications:

BA. preferably MBA in Business Administration/Human Resources.

Minimum of (7) years experience in an international or regional organizations or industry.

Proficiency in English language is a must. Arabic and previous experience in an international organization are distinct advantages

Duties will include:

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

Synthesis of existing data related to screening for salinity and field evaluation, summarize and write up papers for publication in refereed journals, and technical reports.

Conduct specific research experiments regarding water productivity and screening for salinity tolerance in field and forage crops.

Contribute to the design of relevant experiments; supervise implementation, field management and data collection and the production of relevant scientific publications.

Contribute to the preparation of annual and technical reports of the Forage and Field Crops Group.

Carry out physiological measurements and quality traits using modern instrumentation and techniques.

Job Requirements:

PhD in Agronomy, plant physiology or related fields.

Proven proficiency in field research techniques, scientific instrumentation and statistical analysis.

Proven record in relevant scientific publication.

High level of organization, ability to manage multiple tasks, and team work.

Duties will include:

 Conduct laboratory, greenhouse an field experiments

 Develop and implement research work plans

 Manage plant and soil monitoring, sampling and related activities

 File and analyze data using statistical procedures

 Draft papers for publications

 Contribute to non-peer reviewed articles, news-letters, annual report , presentations and other documents

For this position the following are required:

 Strong background in soil microbiology & chemistry

 Experience and knowledge in the use of sewage sludge and compost in agricultural land and composting processes is an asset

 Good communication and analytical skills. Ability to communicate results effectively both orally and in written is important.

 A Ph.D. in a soil science preferably in soil biology
